Walter Hermann
Stages of my life
Social work and psychotherapy
My name is HERMANN Walter. I was born in 1963 in Vorarlberg, where I also grew up and completed my training as a qualified social worker at the "Academy for Social Work" in Bregenz. I then worked for several years as a social worker at Valduna Regional Hospital.
During this time, I completed my training as a family therapist according to Virginia Satir with Walther and Sabine Cormann in Lindau on Lake Constance. This psychotherapeutic approach assumes that change is always possible and that the desire for change is the first and most important step on the path to a fulfilled life.
I have been registered as a psychotherapist with the Federal Ministry of Health since 1993.
Travel and gain experience
That same year, I set off to explore the world. I spent 18 months traveling through Asia and Australia - a time that had a huge impact on me.
After returning to Vorarlberg, I opened a psychotherapeutic practice where I offered psychotherapy as well as dream work. In the meantime, I had completed my training to become an NLP Master and passed on my knowledge in NLP training seminars.
Between 2000 and 2006, I worked in Indonesia and the Balkans as a project manager for "Médecins Sans Frontières" and for CARE in international development cooperation. This work also took me to Aceh/Indonesia in 2004 after the tsunami. During this time, I not only learned a lot about foreign cultures, but also about myself.
Psychotherapy for children, adolescents and families
Between 2006 and 2010, I managed the "Möwe" child protection center in Mistelbach. During these years, I realized that working with children and families is particularly satisfying and challenging for me at the same time.
I have been running my psychotherapy practice in the center of Vienna with a focus on children, adolescents and adults since summer 2012.
What shapes me
In addition to traveling, Tibetan Buddhism has also broadened my perspective on the world. For many years, in addition to my daily meditation, I have intensively studied this "science of man" with lamas from the Nyingma lineage (Ngakpa Chögiam Rinpoche).
Since 2003 I have also been dancing tango, the Argentinian dance of passion, devotion and close embrace, with enthusiasm. For me, Tango Argentino is an intense dialog with my dance partner, a sensual vortex of freedom and creativity, a moment of deepest peace in intense movement. Tango is my teacher for mindful communication and staying alive in the present.
I have lived in Vienna since 2006 and my son, who is now an adult, lives in the USA.
My mission
I am Hermann Walter, born in Vorarlberg in 1963, and my mission is to accompany people on their way to a fulfilled life. As a qualified social worker and family therapist according to Virginia Satir, I firmly believe that change is always possible and that the desire for change is the first and most important step.
I have been working as a psychotherapist since 1993 and opened my practice in Vorarlberg after traveling extensively in Asia and Australia. My international work with "Doctors without Borders" and CARE in crisis areas has shown me how important cultural sensitivity and human connection are.
Working with children and families is particularly close to my heart. I realized this during my time at the "Möwe" child protection center in Mistelbach from 2006 to 2010. I have been running a practice in Vienna since 2012, where I provide therapeutic support for children, adolescents and adults.
My mission is also influenced by Tibetan Buddhism and Tango Argentino. Both teach me mindful communication and consciously staying in the moment - qualities that I pass on in my therapeutic work.
My aim is to help people discover and utilize their inner resources in order to lead a fulfilled and happy life.
Children have to be very lenient with adults.
